Getting Started with Cosmo

What makes Cosmo Coffee different from other roasters?

We're obsessively focused on Indian single-origin beans. While many roasters blend or import, we work directly with estates in Coorg, Chikmagalur, and Sakleshpur—regions that produce some of the world's finest arabica. We roast only twice a week in small batches, which means the coffee you buy was likely roasted within the last 72 hours. Our cafe in Indiranagar isn't just a sales point—it's where we share our craft through Saturday cupping sessions, teaching customers to taste coffee the way we do. We're nerds about this, but we never want you to feel intimidated. Coffee should be approachable, delicious, and worth savoring.

I'm new to specialty coffee. Where should I start?

Start by visiting our cafe in Indiranagar if you're in Bengaluru. Our baristas will walk you through tasting notes and help you discover what you like—whether that's bright and fruity or chocolatey and smooth. If you're ordering online, we recommend our Medium Roast sampler: it includes three 100g packs from different estates, all roasted to a versatile profile that works beautifully in a French press, pour-over, or even a South Indian filter. You'll get tasting notes with each bag, plus brewing tips. And if you join a Saturday cupping session, you'll learn to identify flavors you never knew coffee could have.

Do you ship coffee across India?

Yes! We ship to every state. Orders placed before Wednesday 6 PM are roasted fresh on Thursday and dispatched Friday morning, so you typically receive them within 3-5 business days depending on your location. We use insulated packaging during summer months to protect the beans. Shipping is free on orders above ₹800. For our subscription customers, we automatically schedule roasting and shipping so your coffee arrives at the same time every cycle—no stale beans, ever.

Subscriptions & Orders

How do coffee subscriptions work?

Choose your preferred roast level (light, medium, or dark), grind type (whole bean, espresso, pour-over, French press, or filter coffee), and frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly). You'll receive 250g or 500g bags—your choice—roasted fresh on our Thursday batch and shipped Friday. You're never locked in: skip a delivery, change your roast preference, or pause anytime from your account. Subscribers save 12% compared to one-time purchases and get early access when we release limited seasonal micro-lots from specific estates. We also include tasting notes and estate stories with every shipment.

Can I customize my subscription or try different origins?

Absolutely. Log into your account and swap between our current offerings anytime before Wednesday 6 PM. We typically have 4-6 single-origin options available: Coorg arabica with wine-like acidity, Chikmagalur beans with chocolate undertones, Sakleshpur varietals with floral notes, and sometimes experimental honey-processed or anaerobic lots. Many subscribers rotate through origins to explore the range. You can also split your subscription—say, 250g of a light roast Coorg and 250g of a medium roast Chikmagalur in the same shipment.

What if I'm going on vacation or need to pause my subscription?

Just log into your account and hit "pause" or skip specific deliveries. There's no penalty, no fees, and no hassle. We'd rather you enjoy fresh coffee when you're home than let it sit while you're away. Restart anytime with one click. If you're going to be away for an extended period, you can also gift your upcoming deliveries to a friend or colleague—we'll send them a note explaining it's from you.

Do you offer gift subscriptions?

Yes! Gift subscriptions are available for 1, 3, or 6 months. You choose the roast and grind, and we include a personalized message card with the first shipment. The recipient can adjust preferences from their account, but they can't see the price you paid—just that someone thoughtful gave them exceptional coffee. Gift subscriptions have been especially popular for Diwali, birthdays, and housewarming presents. Email support@cafeinblr.com if you want to time delivery for a specific date.

Coffee & Roasting

What does "roasted twice a week" actually mean for freshness?

We roast every Tuesday and Thursday. Orders placed before 6 PM Wednesday go into the Thursday batch; orders after that go into the following Tuesday's batch. This means your coffee is never more than 5-6 days old when it reaches you, and often it's only 2-3 days post-roast. Compare that to supermarket coffee, which might have been roasted weeks or even months earlier. Fresh-roasted beans still release CO2—you'll notice the bag slightly puffed when it arrives—and they develop their fullest flavor between days 3 and 21 post-roast. That's the window we optimize for.

What's the difference between light, medium, and dark roast?

Light roasts preserve the bean's origin characteristics—think bright acidity, tea-like body, and complex fruit or floral notes. They're ideal for pour-over or Aeropress, where you can appreciate clarity. Medium roasts balance origin flavor with roast sweetness: you get chocolate, caramel, and nutty notes alongside the bean's natural character. These work everywhere—espresso, drip, filter, French press. Dark roasts emphasize bold, roasty flavors: smoky, bittersweet, full-bodied. They're traditional for South Indian filter coffee and stand up well to milk. None is "better"—it's about preference and brewing method. Come to a Saturday cupping to taste all three side-by-side.

Should I buy whole bean or pre-ground coffee?

Whole bean stays fresh significantly longer because grinding exposes more surface area to oxygen. If you have a grinder—even a basic hand grinder—buy whole bean and grind just before brewing. The flavor difference is dramatic. That said, we understand not everyone has a grinder, so we offer grinds calibrated for specific methods: coarse for French press, medium for pour-over and drip, fine for espresso, and a specific texture for South Indian filter coffee. If you order pre-ground, use it within 10-14 days for best results and store it in an airtight container away from light and heat.

How should I store coffee at home?

Keep it in the bag it came in—our bags have one-way valves that let CO2 out but don't let oxygen in. Seal the top tightly after each use. Store in a cool, dark cupboard, not the fridge or freezer (moisture and condensation are coffee's enemies). Whole beans stay optimal for 3-4 weeks post-roast if stored properly; pre-ground is best within 2 weeks. If you've bought a large quantity, you can freeze portions in airtight containers and thaw one at a time, but we'd rather you order smaller amounts more frequently so you're always drinking peak-freshness coffee.

Cafe & Cupping Sessions

What happens at a Saturday cupping session?

Every Saturday at 10 AM, we host a free cupping session at our Indiranagar cafe. You'll taste 4-5 different coffees side-by-side, learning to identify tasting notes like berry, citrus, chocolate, or floral qualities. We cover the cupping protocol that professional tasters use—slurping (yes, really), smelling, and evaluating body and acidity. It's informal and fun, not intimidating. Sessions last about 45 minutes, and you'll leave with a much better sense of what you like and why. No reservation needed, but we cap attendance at 16 people, so arrive a few minutes early. Regulars say it completely changed how they experience coffee.

Can I buy beans at the cafe or do I have to order online?

You can absolutely buy beans at the cafe. We stock all our current single-origin offerings in 100g, 250g, and 500g bags, and you can choose whole bean or have us grind it for your brewing method while you wait. Cafe purchases get the same freshness guarantee—what's on the shelf was roasted within the last week. If you're nearby, buying in person also means you can ask our baristas for recommendations and skip shipping time entirely. Plus, you can grab a cappuccino and a pastry for the road.

Do you host private events or workshops?

Yes. We've hosted corporate team-building cupping sessions, birthday parties, and even a wedding proposal (she said yes). Our 28-seat space plus the sunny patio can accommodate groups of up to 35 people. We can tailor workshops to your group—beginner cupping, espresso fundamentals, latte art, or a coffee-and-pastry pairing session. Pricing depends on headcount and format. Email support@cafeinblr.com with your date and what you have in mind, and we'll create something memorable. We also partner with local bakers and chocolatiers if you want to add food to the experience.

Wholesale & Partnerships

What does a wholesale partnership with Cosmo look like?

We work with cafes, restaurants, and boutique hotels that value quality and want to serve exceptional Indian single-origin coffee. You'll receive beans from our Tuesday and Thursday roasting schedule—delivered fresh, usually within 48 hours of roasting. Minimum order is 5kg per delivery, and we offer volume pricing that scales with your needs. We also provide barista training, brewing guides, and branded point-of-sale materials if you want to highlight the partnership to your customers. Our current 12 cafe partners and 3 hotel clients appreciate that we're flexible, responsive, and genuinely invested in their success. Reach out through the wholesale page and we'll schedule a tasting.

Can I white-label Cosmo coffee for my own cafe or business?

We don't offer full white-label service, but we've worked with a few partners on co-branded packaging where both our names appear—highlighting that we roast, they serve. This works well for cafes or specialty grocers who want to emphasize quality sourcing while building their own brand. If you're interested in something like this, let's talk specifics. What we won't do is roast anonymously for someone else to take full credit—our relationships with estates and our roasting process are central to what makes the coffee special, and we want that story to be part of what your customers experience.
