Coffee That Travels 300km, Not 3,000

We source single-origin arabica from three legendary growing regions in Karnataka—Coorg, Chikmagalur, and Sakleshpur—and roast it fresh in Bengaluru twice a week. Every bag tells the story of the estate, the elevation, and the hands that picked it.

Our Sourcing Philosophy

Lush coffee plantation in Karnataka hills

We believe great coffee starts with direct relationships. Every estate we work with, we've visited personally—walking the rows, tasting cherries, discussing processing methods with the farmers. No middlemen, no commodity lots. Just transparent sourcing from people who've been growing coffee for generations.

Karnataka's coffee belt sits between 900 and 1,500 meters above sea level, where the Western Ghats create perfect microclimates: consistent rainfall, cool nights, and mineral-rich volcanic soil. These conditions produce arabica beans with bright acidity, complex fruit notes, and a sweetness you simply can't get from high-altitude South American or African beans.

We pay 20-35% above Fair Trade minimums because quality deserves fair compensation. When farmers invest in selective picking, careful processing, and proper drying, we all win—they earn sustainable income, and you get extraordinary coffee.

Our Three Growing Regions

Misty morning at Coorg coffee estate

Coorg (Kodagu)

The cradle of Indian coffee. Our Coorg beans come from a 40-hectare estate run by third-generation planters at 1,100m elevation. These beans are known for their full body, chocolate notes, and low acidity—think dark caramel, roasted hazelnut, and a hint of black pepper. The estate uses shade-grown methods under silver oak trees, which slows cherry maturation and concentrates sugars. Perfect for espresso or a rich pour-over.

Sunrise over Chikmagalur coffee mountains

Chikmagalur

Legend says coffee arrived in India here in the 1600s. Our Chikmagalur partner is a boutique estate at 1,350m that specializes in washed-process arabica. Expect bright, clean cups with citrus acidity—notes of orange zest, jasmine, and honey. The higher elevation and meticulous wet-milling create beans that shine in light to medium roasts. This is what we serve for filter coffee at the cafe, and it's our most popular subscription bean.

Green coffee cherries on the branch in Sakleshpur

Sakleshpur

The wild card in our lineup. Sakleshpur sits in the Malnad region where rainforests meet plantations. Our beans here are naturally processed—dried inside the cherry for 3-4 weeks, creating explosive fruit-forward flavors. Think blueberry, strawberry jam, and tropical fruit. The estate is small (12 hectares), biodynamic, and produces limited quantities. We roast these beans medium-light to preserve the fermented sweetness. Coffee geeks love this one.

How We Roast

Small batch coffee roaster in action

We roast every Tuesday and Friday morning in 5kg batches on a Giesen W6A drum roaster. Small batches mean precise control—we can adjust temperature curves, development time, and airflow for each origin's unique characteristics. Most commercial roasters work in 50-100kg batches where nuance gets lost.

Our roast profiles range from light (City) to medium-dark (Full City+), never into second crack. We're not trying to char away origin character. Light roasts preserve the terroir and acidity; medium roasts balance sweetness and body; medium-dark roasts bring out chocolate and caramel without bitterness.

We rest roasted beans for 48 hours before packing to allow CO2 to degas. Then we seal them in one-way valve bags—the valve lets gas out but keeps oxygen from getting in. The result? Beans arrive at your door with 2-3 weeks of peak flavor window ahead of them.
